When the people have gone

After the recent work party down at Beckhithe I thought it might be a good opportunity to see who visited the site after all the noise and people had gone. I set the camera up in the wet meadow near to an area clearly used by the rabbit population and when I returned this is what it had captured.

This was what was expected but this was the only shot and obviously the rabbit was alittle camera shy. The next visitor was bigger and bolder at least to start with.

This Roe is just starting to get ready for the Autumn Rut and his antlers have been added to by the deer to make himself look more ferocious to other stags and more hadsome to the ladies.

Sure enough a female Roe was down at the same spot later on. I had heard Roe and seen them down at Beckhithe along with Muntjac so whilst lovely to see they werent a surprise. The next visitors were not so expected:

Badgers are found all around the village fields and woods and are often inquisitive checking out anything of interest including cameras.

Not sure if this later visitor is one of the early ones or another badger altogether. It is possible to tell the difference by the pattern of stripes on their face if you study them close enough.

This Magpie was a regular at the camera it wasnt clear what drew him tothe area but he spenta lot of time examining the camera and surround closely so perhap she was just inquisative or maybe the short grass is a good area to look for a meal.

Lastly a few of Beckhithe’s colourful and interesting residents courtesy of Anne Edwards.
